Thin Crust Pizza Recipe

Makes one 12-inch/30 cm pizza

Ingredients:

For the pizza crust:

-½ cup lukewarm water

-¾ tsp active dry yeast

-½ tsp sugar

-1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

-1 tbsp olive oil

-¼ tsp salt

For the tomato sauce:

-100 grams tomato paste

-½ tbsp olive oil

-½ tbsp sugar

-½ tsp salt

-½ tsp dried oregano/basil

-¼ tsp paprika

-¼ tsp black pepper

-A pinch of red chili flakes (optional)

For the toppings:

-200 grams grated cheese of your choice (I usually use equal amounts of mozzarella, cheddar and gouda)

-Toppings of your choice (we love pineapple, corn and onion on our pizza)

-½ tbsp olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

For the pizza crust:

1) In a large bowl, add sugar and yeast to the water and mix thoroughly.

2) Add flour and olive oil and mix until a dough is beginning to form, add the salt and knead for 5-7 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add some more flour.

3) Form the dough into a ball. Lightly grease a bowl and put the dough ball inside. Cover and let rest for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.

4) Lightly grease a 12-inch/30 cm pizza pan and use your fingers to spread the dough over it.

For the tomato sauce:

1) Mix all the ingredients of the tomato sauce.

2) Spread the sauce evenly on top of the dough (leaving a narrow outer edge).

For the toppings:

1) Sprinkle grated cheese and toppings of your choice. If you wish, brush the outer crust of the pizza with olive oil.

2) Bake in an oven preheated to 392° F/200° C for 15-20 minutes, or until golden.
